The latest microSD cards now have the highest storage capacity in the world, eclipsing the record held by a previous generation. It’s the Micron i400, which offers a massive 1.5TB of storage even for its minimal microSD design?.
Its secret lies in its 176-layer 3D NAND technology. Micron’s NAND technology has become a new industry standard with nearly 40 percent more layers than other manufacturers’ 3D NAND.
The SanDisk and Micron 1TB microSD cards revealed at MWC 2019 set a record for 50 percent more storage space than the previous record holders. Utilizing 176 layers of 3D NAND, Micron achieved this feat.
According to Micron, the i400 is suitable for video security environments.
This card can store five years of high-quality, nonstop recordings, handle 4K video recordings, and process up to eight AI events simultaneously (e.g., object detection, facial recognition).
In addition to being shockproof and waterproof, the Micron i400 can operate at temperatures ranging from -25 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius with no problems.
Though the Micron i400 has been announced, no further details are available about when or at what price it will be available.
