Meizu has filed a new patent with an under-display front camera in order to to minimize bezels. This was done due to the people worrying about their device’s dimensions.

In order to solve the smartphones’ issue with their displays, companies have started to make them borderless by shaving off the bezels. In order to reduce the bezels, a notch can also be in‌cluded for it can house the front camera, the earpiece, and other sensors. This was first seen in the iPhone X and manufacturers have been imitating it ever since.

The new patent filed by Meizu kicked it up a notch by including an in-display camera under the same Graphene glass used for the display. Graphene was chosen for it allows light to penetrate into the camera sensor. The patent also contains a light sensor as well as a proximity sensor under the display. The in-display camera will be able to aid the upcoming Meizu devices to have a screen-to-body ratio very close to 100%.

As of now, there are still no reports regarding the launch of a Meizu phone containing this feature.
