MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 9300+, their latest flagship mobile chip in the Dimensity lineup. This chip features increased clock speeds and is optimized for on-device generative AI processing, offering broader support for LLMs and other performance enhancements compared to the Dimensity 9300.
JC Hsu, Corporate Senior Vice President at MediaTek, noted that the Dimensity 9300+ will contribute to building a diverse ecosystem of generative AI applications due to its extensive LLM support and on-device LoRA Fusion. The chip offers improved performance and efficiency for LLM inference, facilitating a better user experience.
Dimensity 9300+ Specs
Built on an All-Big-Core design with a 3rd generation TSMC 4nm process, the Dimensity 9300+ incorporates one Arm Cortex-X4 core operating at up to 3.4 GHz, along with three Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores. Additionally, it boasts enhanced AI processing capabilities compared to its predecessor, thanks to MediaTek’s new NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration technology.
The APU 790 AI engine enables the Dimensity 9300+ to support LLMs with various parameters and run them efficiently. With NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration, the chip can run LLMs with seven billion parameters at 22 tokens per second, which is notably faster than competitive mass market solutions.
The Dimensity 9300+ integrates a 2nd generation hardware ray tracing engine with an Arm Immortalis-G720 GPU, providing gamers with fast ray tracing experiences at 60 FPS, along with console-grade global illumination effects. It also incorporates MediaTek’s latest HyperEngine technologies to enhance gaming performance, including MediaTek Adaptive Gaming Technology (MAGT) for improved power efficiency and HyperEngine’s Network Observation System (NOS) for enhanced network concurrency.
With MediaTek’s Imagiq 990 ISP offering 18-bit RAW processing, the Dimensity 9300+ enables users to capture high-quality photos and videos, even in low-light conditions. Additionally, it integrates MediaTek’s MiraVision 990 for advanced AI depth engine technologies to enhance smartphone content.
The Dimensity 9300+ supports a wide range of AI applications, including on-device LoRA Fusion and NeuroPilot LoRA Fusion 2.0 for the development of generative AI applications with text, images, music, and more. It also supports the latest LLMs, including 01.AI Yi-Nano, Alibaba Cloud Qwen, Baichuan AI, ERNIE-3.5-SE, Google Gemini Nano, and Meta Llama 2 and Llama 3.
For connectivity, the Dimensity 9300+ includes a 5G R16 modem designed with AI situational awareness, supporting 4CC-CA Sub-6GHz with up to 7Gbps downlink.
