E-wallet provider Maya, owned by Manny V. Pangilinan, took a jab at its competitor GCash when it announced that app users can now transfer funds using unique usernames.
“Forget phone numbers and names with silly ast*r*sks. Say hello to @usernames and use them to send and request money with your Maya friends!”
Customers need to update their Maya app to be able to choose a username before they can use this functionality.
In recent weeks, Maya and GCash have strengthened their security protocols to guard better their users against fraudulent activities that use their cell phones and other personal information.
