The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has finally set the maximum number of vehicles operating for the applications Uber and Grab.
The decision to limit the vehicles for Uber and Grabe was done to give LTFRB more focused regulatory on the service. Also, it was revealed last year that both Grab and Uber has over 100,000 drivers combined. Uber revealed it had 66,000 “partner drivers”, while Grab had 52,000, though not all are active.
“We have stirred away from the exclusivity of the TNVS. If you are granted a franchise, you can seek accreditation in any TNC. Gauging on what they (TNCs) gave us, we arrived at with these numbers,” Lizada said.
LTFRB has already decided the operating Grab and Uber vehicles maximum number each area: 45,000 in Metro Manila, 500 vehicles in Metro Cebu, and 200 vehicles in Pampanga.
