iOS 26.6 Update Now Available for iPhone

Apple has released iOS 26.6 for compatible iPhones to prepare devices for the upcoming iOS 27.

The update optimizes the iPhone’s Spotlight index to help prepare devices for iOS 27, which will introduce upgrades to Spotlight and Siri.

iOS 26.6 also adds a new alert when users reach the maximum number of blocked contacts, making it easier to manage blocked numbers.

Other additions include Playlist Playground (beta) in Apple Music, offline Music Recognition through Control Center, support for AirPods Max 2, eight new emojis, improved keyboard accuracy, and new accessibility improvements such as easier caption controls and reduced motion enhancements.

Apple also said iOS 26.6 includes more than 75 security fixes for iPhone and iPad, along with general bug fixes.

Code found during the beta also suggests Apple is still developing an anti-snatching feature that could automatically lock an unlocked iPhone if it is suddenly taken, though it is not yet available.

To install, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

On the other hand, Apple is expected to release iOS 27 to the public later this year.
