Indonesia may soon block X (formerly Twitter) due to a new policy allowing adult content on the platform. The country’s Minister of Communications and Informatics, Budi Arie Setiadi, warned that if it doesn’t follow Indonesia’s 2008 Pornography Law, access to the site could be cut off.
This law strictly bans the sharing of pornographic material.
Starting May 2024, the social media will allow consensually produced adult content with proper labeling. This content is not permitted in profile photos or banners.

Minister Setiadi has sent a warning letter about the consequences of not following the law and plans to send more messages before making a final decision. Additionally, the new policy is facing scrutiny in Malaysia, another country with strict internet content rules.
Elon Musk, has not responded to these warnings, and the company has not commented on the situation.
