What to Know When Saving Routes in Google Maps
Although Google Maps promotes a “save route” option, not everyone can use it as of the time of this writing in December 2021. In order to preserve your route as a pinned object, we will utilize the “pin” option in this instruction.
You can only save driving and public transportation routes when you do so. No matter what you used to save the route, if you save a driving route, your source location will always be where you are right now. However, you may alter the originating location for journeys using public transportation.
Save a Route in Google Maps on iPhone, iPad, and Android
Use the Google Maps app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone to store your preferred routes to your preferred locations.
Open the Google Maps app on your phone to get started. Tap the instructions icon on the right side of the app.

Enter the source and destination addresses for the instructions you wish to get at the top of the Maps screen. then decide on the best route to take to reach your location (driving or public transport).
Tap the “Pin” option at the bottom of the same page. Your list of pinned routes will now include your current journey.
Open Google Maps and select “Go” at the bottom to see all of your pinned routes, including the one you just saved.
You may view all of your saved routes in the “Go” tab. To access the detailed directions, tap a route.
A pinned route can be unpinned with equal ease. To achieve this, tap “Pinned” at the bottom of the instructions page. This eliminates the chosen route from the list of pinned routes.

Save a Route to Your Home Screen on Android
You may add a shortcut to a route on your home screen on Android. Then, when you hit this shortcut, Google Maps will launch right away and show you your path.

“Add Route to Home Screen” may be tapped in the three-dot menu.
