The Grab Philippines senior director for operations and strategy Ronald Roda told a press conference in Pasig City that the company had concluded a deal to acquire Move Its operations in the Philippines.

The “Move It” app will not be merged with Grab, according to Roda, and the company will maintain its platform and operate as a separate entity.
Ownership has changed, but operations have not merged, Roda stated.

The company did not disclose the asset cost despite being below the Philippine Competition Commission’s mandatory merger and acquisition threshold of ₱1 billion.

Grab recently announced that it is partnering with Move It so that the latter’s services can be booked through the Grab app. Motorcycle Taxi Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Department of Transportation stopped the partnership.

Several provisions of the motorcycle taxi pilot study were violated by the collaboration, according to TWG. Rather than using Move, Its application to book and pay for the ride services, Grab’s application was used. In addition, Grab took care of the training, onboarding of drivers, marketing, issuing official receipts, and using the Grab Driver app.
