There are many reasons why you might be wondering if your iPhone or Android charger gets very hot after you use it. If this has ever happened to you, you may have wondered what could be causing it and if it is anything to worry about. Let’s take a look!

Electronics Generate Heat

It is usual for a phone charger to generate some warmth from time to time. It is the charger that is responsible for converting AC power from your outlet into DC power for your phone, and as a result, it generates heat during the process.

A transformer is an electrical component used in the charger to convert AC to DC utilizing an AC/DC converter. The average conductivity of electricity in a transformer, heat is produced due to eddy currents and other losses, and conductivity of electricity. These losses are a consequence of how transformers work. An inverter will generally have more heat if supplied with an immense current than designed to handle.

How Hot is Too Hot?

Whenever your charger is so hot that it is uncomfortable to hold or touch, that’s a clear sign of something wrong. Usually, a problem is caused by a malfunction inside the charger. However, it can also be caused by a problem with the charger’s connection to the outlet.

It is critical to remember that high-quality, genuine chargers contain protection circuitry that will automatically shut down the charger if something is wrong. If this circuit is not working, or if you are using a low-quality or counterfeit charger, there is a possibility that it may malfunction.

Look for dirt or obstructions on the prongs of your charger if it is unbearably hot. Unplug it from the outlet and unplug it again. It is also recommended that you check to see if the charging port on your phone is clean, and if the charger itself has a USB port, then check for dirt or lint in the port (if it has one).

If the problem persists, try scrubbing the port once again, and if it still gets warm, use a different cable to see if the issue persists. Nevertheless, there are some instances when you don’t want to take any chances by trying out different cables, which we’ll discuss in a little more detail below.
