Google Withdrew Their Policy Update Banning Explicit Materials On Blogger

Blogger Bans Sexually Explicit Contents

Only a few days ago, Google announced a new adult privacy policy prohibiting the users to post sexually explicit materials in Blogger. But today, Google is taking back the policy update that is apparently a bit too rash of a decision.

After receiving disapproving feedbacks about the backdated change that would ban sexually explicit images and video and also required owners to delete older content, Google instead has told users that it will just crack down harder on the publishing of commercial porn.

“This week, we announced a change to Blogger’s porn policy. We’ve had a ton of feedback in particular about the introduction of a retroactive change (some people have had accounts for 10+ years), but also about the negative impact on individuals who post sexually explicit content to express their identities,” says Jessica Pelegio, Social Product Support Manager at Google.

“Blog owners should continue to mark any blogs containing sexually explicit content as adult so that they can be placed behind an ‘adult content’ warning page.”

Maybe the search giant saw a great risk of their users turning to Tumblr instead. Adult contents are still allowed on Blogger as long as it’s the user’s own material and has permission to post it.
