Google Unveils Googlebook Laptop with Gemini AI Features

Googlebook Laptop

Google has introduced Googlebook, a new laptop category that combines Android and ChromeOS with Gemini AI features.

One of the main features is Magic Pointer, an AI-powered cursor tool. With this, users can point at items on the screen to receive contextual suggestions, such as creating calendar events from dates in emails or combining images for quick visual previews.

Google is also adding a feature called Create your Widget, which lets users generate custom desktop widgets with prompts.

Gemini can connect with apps like Gmail and Calendar to organize information such as travel details, reservations, and reminders into one dashboard.

The company said Googlebooks uses parts of Android, allowing faster updates and better connections between laptops and smartphones.

Features include running phone apps on the laptop and Quick Access, which lets users view and use files from their phones directly on the laptop.

Google confirmed it is working with hardware partners, including

  • Acer
  • ASUS
  • Dell
  • HP
  • Lenovo

The laptops will feature different designs and hardware configurations, including a signature “glowbar” element.

More details about Googlebook devices are expected to be announced later this year, with availability planned around September to November 2026.
