Google Philippines just announced that they would be providing 39,000 scholarships to Filipino students so that they may participate in online education and earn a certificate of completion.
This is done in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and Globe Telecom and is made available through the Google Career Certificates scholarship program established by the firm.
Are you a Filipino and at least 18 years old? Then GOOD NEWS! You are eligible to apply for the online certificate program, which will last six months and one year.
Classes available are:
- Data Analytics
- Information Technology Support
- Project Management
- User Experience Design
The most attractive feature is that neither previous work experience nor a college degree is required.
According to Marketing Chief Gabby Roxas, this decision was made when they noticed a growing need for work related to information technology, which resulted in the requirement for Filipinos to acquire new skills.
Assoc. According to Jeffrey Ian Dy, who works for the DICT, Upskilling should be in the vanguard of the development of the information and communications technology industry. He said that information and communications technology is not just about infrastructure but also about “people-structure.”
Meanwhile, Globe will contribute to the endeavor by assisting in promoting the scholarship through its school caravans and relationships with local government units.
