Google has introduced Playground, an experimental gaming platform that lets users create, play, and share custom games using text prompts instead of coding.
Users can start from a blank canvas, use starter prompts, or get guided help while building a game.
They can also change elements such as game rules, physics, characters, and environments by describing what they want.
Playground is browser-based, allowing games to be played on phones and laptops. Created games can be kept private, shared through a link, or published to the Playground Explore gallery. Select game genres also support multiplayer and in-game leaderboards.
Published games go through safety screenings and can be reported by users. Playground also includes profiles where players can choose a custom handle, like games, follow creators, and track rankings.
Google said Playground will later integrate with Unity Spark, which is expected to add more advanced game mechanics and 3D capabilities. Unity Spark is currently being tested, with a closed beta planned soon.
Playground is currently available at playground.google to users in the U.S. aged 18 and above, with creation access depending on their Google AI subscription.
