Google Introduces Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash

Google has unveiled an update to its generative video model, built to give creators and developers more control over video creation and editing workflows.

The Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash brings several new capabilities, including scene extension, specifying first and last frames, 360p video generation, 1080p and 4K outputs, and support for video references.

The scene extension feature allows users to build clips up to 40 seconds total. By analyzing up to 10 seconds of previous footage, Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash maintains stronger visual consistency and narrative continuity as scenes grow in 10-second increments.

Google has enhanced frame-level controls by allowing creators to specify distinct starting and ending keyframes. The AI model automatically generates the intervening footage required to bridge the two points, enabling complex camera orbits, zoom effects, and smooth visual transitions.

For faster video making, the updated AI model introduces a 360p resolution option designed for quick previews. According to Google, the 360p generation runs up to 60% faster and reduces costs to one-third of standard 720p output, making it ideal for rapid iteration, storyboard planning, and low-latency testing in developer workflows.

Videos can then be upscaled, supporting 1080p and 4K video outputs, allowing generated videos to be produced at higher resolutions.

Additionally, creators can now feed the updated AI model up to three seconds of reference video as multimodal input, providing critical visual context to help preserve character details and style consistency across generated scenes.

The Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash is now rolling out through the Gemini API in Google AI Studio, while enterprise users can access related capabilities through Google’s enterprise platform. It is also available globally to eligible Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers through Google Flow.
