Google Fitbit Edge Fitness Tracker Unveiled

Google has officially unveiled the Fitbit Edge.

The smartwatch comes with a Hybrid OLED display and an 11.5mm-thick body made from recycled aluminum.

Its display offers 46% more viewing area than previous Fitbit trackers, while a physical side button provides quick access to selected functions.

The device supports more than 50 exercise modes and can automatically recognize up to 100 types of workouts. It also has built-in GPS, an altimeter, and real-time workout guidance for tracking metrics such as pace, heart rate zones, and running splits.

For health monitoring, the Fitbit Edge includes continuous heart rate tracking, an ECG app, a skin temperature sensor, sleep stage analysis, and heart rate variability (HRV) tracking. It also offers high and low heart rate alerts. Blood pressure and insulin resistance trend tracking require a Google Health Premium subscription.

The tracker runs a redesigned interface with customizable watch faces and tiles for health metrics. Other features include Google Maps, media controls, and call and message notifications.

Google claims the Fitbit Edge can last up to seven days on a single charge. Its magnetic charging system can provide up to a day of battery life with five minutes of charging. The device is water-resistant up to 50 meters and features a replaceable battery, making it the brand’s first repairable fitness tracker.
