Google is expanding its Android Earthquake Alerts System from 98 to nearly 200 countries and regions.
In case you missed it, the Philippines has been included in Android’s Earthquake Alerts System since 2021.
Additionally, Google plans to update its Be Ready alert in the coming months.

The system provides three types of alerts depending on the estimated shaking intensity. Be Aware notifies users of expected light shaking, while Be Ready provides more details for stronger shaking. Take Action delivers a full-screen alert with safety instructions when moderate to heavy shaking is expected.
The upcoming changes will include a map showing the estimated area affected by shaking, the estimated earthquake magnitude, safety guidance, and a button to access more details as information becomes available.
The Android Earthquake Alerts System uses supported Android devices to detect seismic activity and send warnings to users in affected areas.
However, alerts depend on regional availability and the system’s ability to detect an earthquake.
