Globe Expands 5G Coverage to Enhance Connectivity Across Regions

Wednesday, GLOBE Telecom Inc. said it is continuing to build more 5G wireless sites. By June 2023, 356 new sites will have been built, bringing outdoor coverage to 97.44% in the National Capital Region and 91% in key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Globe said that during the first half of this year, 5.2 million 5G devices connected to its network.

The company said it spent PHP37.7 billion on capital projects in the first half, which is 25% less than the same time last year. This is supposed to drop to PHP71.5 billion, or $1.3 billion, by the end of the year, which is more than 30% less than what it was in 2022.

About 90% of the money was set aside to meet the demand for data because customers need faster connections for work, school, fun, and everyday tasks, the company said.
