(ECPay) to Globe Fintech Innovations Inc., the operator behind the prominent e-wallet, GCash. The transaction amounts to PHP2.31 billion, aiming to bolster the growth and reach of both platforms in the digital landscape.
Upon completion of the acquisition, ECPay will gain access to GCash’s expansive platform, allowing for a significant expansion of its services in the digital realm. Meanwhile, GCash aims to solidify its position as the dominant player in the e-wallet market by diversifying its financial technology offerings.
Globe’s President and CEO, Ernest Cu, expressed optimism regarding the acquisition, highlighting the potential for ECPay and Mynt to enhance their products in response to the increasing adoption of digital lifestyles among Filipinos.
Rizza Maniego-Eala, Chief Finance Officer of Globe, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the mutual benefits of the deal. As the transaction progresses, Globe is actively engaging in necessary reviews and seeking regulatory approval to facilitate the sale.
