As time goes by, everything ages. It’s the same thing to say with phones.

Just recently, Samsung revealed that they will be no longer provide security updates with some of their Samsung Galaxy units specifically, the Galaxy J3 Pop/Emerge, Galaxy A7 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017), and Galaxy A3 (2017). These units went on sale four years ago, January 2017.

Also, the Galaxy A8 (2018) and its sibling the Galaxy A8s will be demoted into quarterly and other regular security updates respectively.

When it comes to new phones, their start life is not guaranteed yet which is not the same with affordable models. With the brand-new Galaxy A02 and Galaxy M12, their updates will be having quarterly updates. We can also expect by next week, Samsung will announce the M12.
