Facebook Introduces Your Algorithm Feature

Facebook is introducing new AI-powered tools that let users customize the content they see in Feed and Reels by describing their interests in their own words.

The new feature is called Your algorithm, which allows users to add and manage topics they want to see in their recommendations. It can be accessed through the three-dot menu on posts.

Facebook is also adding new feedback options. When users select “Interested” or “Not interested” on a post, the platform may ask follow-up questions to better understand their preferences. Users can then provide additional details about the content they want to see more or less of.

According to Facebook, these changes will allow its recommendation system to adjust content suggestions in real time, including during the same session.

The platform uses signals such as likes, comments, and viewing activity to determine which content to recommend. It is now using large language models (LLMs) to interpret users’ written feedback, including the context and intent behind their requests.

The new tools are rolling out to help users have more direct control over the content recommended to them on Facebook.
