High Resolution 21MP main camera
As seen on our first impression and finished comparisons for the Xperia M5, we highlighted mostly the Xperia M5’s high-end 21MP main camera outputs, which gave us very satisfactorily results. The camera images were really top-notch and was even seen to surpass the excellent quality, that the M4 Aqua has provided us. The 21MP awesome main shooter of the Xperia M5 was one of the biggest reasons why we loved it, oh, so.
Super fast camera focusing speed
And we can’t stop talking about its camera! Another reason why we loved its overall camera performance was its fast tracking and focusing capability, which was seen to be more superior than its predecessor, the Xperia M5’s focusing speed was superb and we were at awe, from the first time we took a photo, up until now. We were also amazed, that it was quite easy for us to take pictures of moving subject with this quick and accurate camera focusing speed.
Dust Resistance and waterproof features
This is a feature that Sony might be well-known for. Its waterproof and dust resistance feature, despite, not exactly something rare, was also something to look at. We mentioned in our M5 and M4 Aqua comparison that there were features that were kept on the M5, that was present on the M4 Aqua and apparently, this was one of them. With this feature, utility and efficiency is what it speaks wholeheartedly, because it provides great safety capability for the M5, as to not die out from water exposure or dust exposure, which is something that not only us, but, Xperia M5 users will love.
Top-of-the-line MediaTek Chipset
The Xperia M5 transitions from its Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, which was present on the M4 Aqua, to a more powerful MediaTek MT6795 Helio x10 chipset. Based on our performance and benchmark results on the M4 Aqua and M5 review comparison, the Xperia M5 showcased better firepower and overall system performance, than its predecessor, which pretty much says that, its current chipset is nothing to look down upon, which was shown on its benchmark scores.

Upon executing our usual rounds of tests for performance, the Xperia M5 went out the victor, between it, and its predecessor, showcasing a faster and efficient loading time on application and browsing.
Excellent 13MP selfie shooter
Front-facing camera or selfie shooters are often, not noticed by phone users, or at times, users don’t care as much as they should on output’s quality. However, its hard not to notice the excellent quality on the Xperia M5’s selfie shooter outputs, which to us, is highly commendable, since its pretty rare for front-facing camera’s to take excellent outputs. With that in mind, we figured to love the Xperia M5’s lil’ selfie shooter and all its well-deserved glory.
Premium design
The M4 Aqua already possesses a premium look, however, Sony stepped up their game, on the Xperia M5 and featured a few new adjustments and improvements on the device, that we learned to love. Both devices look a bit the identical, however a few features such as, the Xperia M5’s larger front-facing camera lens (and yes, its about the M5’s camera again) and its oleophobic-coating that protects the M5’s body from smudges, which we relatively liked a lot. Another thing to take notice of, is the M5’s glossy rounded frame, which looks a bit better than the M4’s, as well as a few changes on the positioning of USB ports and buttons, which was highly focused on delivering efficiency upon use of those particular features.
Full physical controls
Full physical controls are beloved by all, so, no wonder that when the Xperia M5 had this particular feature, we simply jumped in the bandwagon. Although, the Full physical controls are rather normal on a smartphone and overall don’t affect much on the phone’s performance, it is still considered to be something to look out on the Xperia M5, since as mentioned, physical buttons deliver easiness and efficiency upon activating a particular option on the device, which is in the case of the power button.
Crisps and clear speaker
As mentioned on the review comparison of the M4 Aqua and M5, both devices delivered one check of a performance, in terms of overall sound quality and audio volume. This is another one of those features that was present on the M4 Aqua and was applied on the Xperia M5, as we were to determine that both of them were at par with each other on speaker. Nothing more to say but “wow”, since speaker-wise, the Xperia M5 delivered.
2 days battery life span
Mentioned on Sony’s very own battery test on the Xperia M5, they were able to determine that the Xperia M5’s battery life span, was up to 2 days, when the Xperia M5 was continuously exposed to activity (gaming, internet browsing, texting, camera, music, video) and was set on default settings of 100 Nits and while the battery stamina mode was off. This is quite a lovely little test that Sony conducted, which helped us to love the Xperia M5, more than usual
High Resolution display
The Xperia M5 was able to trump the M4 Aqua in terms of display capability, which was a shocker, since the M4 Aqua already delivered excellent display quality, with the Xperia M5’s more sharper and crisp display image, color accurate and high brightness capabilities.
Flat and clean user interface
Overall UI and application experience was as smooth as ice, with the Xperia M5’s clean and flat user interface experience, which was reminiscent of a typical vanilla android experience. everything was at the brightest, in terms of phone browsing and interface browsing, which many would surely enjoy.
4K UHD video recorder
Okay, we already know that the Xperia M5 has 4K UHD capabilities, however, its outputs still amazed us to the fullest. We were all surprised as to how clear and top-notch, its 4K UHD recorder can be and was simply looking at the video outputs with awe and excitement as to how good it is. If we were ranking any of our lists and if we happen to that here, this must be the number one reason why we love Xperia M5, (this list is still not ranked-base, this was just an expression of joy)
Expandable microSD card and dual-nano SIM features
Some devices, like the C5 Ultra, has a few restrictions in terms of dual-nano SIM availability or expandable microSD availability. Usually, one of the two are the only feature that will be present in a particular device, however, the Xperia M5 was able to support both expandable microSD capability and dual-nano SIM capability, which is amazing, beyond doubt.

How the everyday battery life usage for this? Screen On Time average?
Battery life is great. Screen on time average is 4h a day and still left with few kicks. we will be posting more in depth battery life tests/comparisons in near future.
