As of July 2022, DITO Telecommunity is ready to take on the Philippine telco giants, PLDT and Globe, with over 10 million subscribers and more than 5,500 towers under its belt.
With the company’s number of towers, DITO Chief Technology Officer Rodolfo Santiago believes it can cover 70 percent of the Philippines’ population.
DITO’s services now reach 600 cities and municipalities, near the 800 targets set for the year.
The Chief Administrative Officer of DITO, Adel Tamano, stated that the accomplishment was challenging, but DITO could compete with Smart and Globe Telecom with more funds.
A superior product and fair customer service offers contributed to the success of DITO, which became the country’s premier telecommunications company.
Interestingly, DITO has alluded to its rise in the industry as akin to that of a boxing match where it competes “head-to-head” against the two dominating telcos, even though it would not be easy.
In less than three years, the telco has gained a 5% market share in mobile and 9% in the data-centric segment.
Also, in a recent announcement, DITO announced that it is also working on launching a satellite internet service as part of its ongoing operations.
