The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) announced that the PhilSys National ID would be available for download on mobile devices in the near future.
To enjoy the benefits of the national ID, Filipinos must presently get either the digital version (ePhilID) or a physical copy. However, by early 2023, the DICT plans to make it available for mobile devices as well.
Despite delays in the manufacture and distribution of physical cards, officials from the DICT and the Philippine Statistical Authority (PSA) claimed that this is another method for the PhilSys ID to be more accessible.

According to National Statistician Dennis Mapa, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas is in charge of printing the cards (BSP). They now have the capacity to generate 80,000 to 100,000 national ID cards each day. The BSP is striving to increase output to 130,000 per day in order to speed up the process.
The PSA intends to issue 50 million IDs before the end of 2022. 20 million are ePhilID cards, while 30 million are physical cards. So far, 22 million PhilSys ID cards have been distributed to Filipinos. As of this writing, about 2 million ePhilIDs had been printed.
