Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is now official and you might start seeing it on your new phone or device later this year according to the company.
The tough, rugged glass has been improved over the previous generation and the company advertises up to 1.6 meters or 5-ft 2-inch drop without breaking and shattering for up to 80% of the time.
Corning has also developed a more touch-sensitive glass this time. The company did not mention the improvements in the scratch-resistant level of the Gorilla Glass 5 over the Gorilla Glass 4. We’re guessing a slight or the same level. Still, the unbreakable feature is a feature worth having on your next smartphone.
The Gorilla Glass 5 will be available in upcoming devices later this year. We expect that Samsung might feature it on their Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
