The most popular streaming service in the world will soon devote more time to gaming. Mike Verdu, vice president of gaming at Netflix, provided more information regarding the choice.
He revealed that Netflix will create a new gaming studio in Southern California and that the company is “researching a cloud gaming service.”
Verdu claims that the Netflix cloud gaming platform will outperform Stadia from Google. It would adhere to a distinct corporate structure that enhances customer experience.
At the online conference TechCrunch Disrupt, the Netflix VP of Gaming spoke about the new service. As an illustration, he used the Google Stadia platform.
A platform that allows players to download and play games online is called Stadia. Like Sony’s PlayStation Plus, you need an online connection to access your games.
Stadia was unique because its game library could only be accessed using a specialized controller. It claimed it would compete with well-known rivals like the Xbox and the Nintendo Switch. Sadly, it was discontinue in January after failing to attract new users.
Although Stadia’s strategy for providing game streaming to consumers was based on a solid technological basis, it has yet to be well received by users. Therefore we’ve had to make the difficult choice to start winding down our Stadia streaming service.
According to Verdu, fifty-five titles are currently “in flight” for the Netflix cloud gaming service. Original intellectual properties (IP) like Stranger Things are among them.
