A utility phone that could be used for rescue situations
The robust-looking CAT S60 is by no means an ordinary smartphone. This 4.7-incher handset possesses a very interesting trait that could be really useful in rescue scenarios and that is its thermal camera. The CAT S60 packs a thermal camera feature that can be used for disasters and locate people’s whereabouts by detecting their heat signatures. It sounds rather James Bond-y if you ask me, but nevertheless, it sounds actually useful.

The tech can be used by law enforcement, for example, to check out various locations from a location and find where most people are located. The  thermal camera is powered by Flir and carries 80 x 60pixels thermal video.
The CAT S60 can be safely said to be an SOS smartphone, thanks to its many situational features, one of which is its waterproof feature, wherein the handset can be submerged up until 2m of water, however if you close down the mouth and earpieces of the handset with the yellow covers, it can be submerged to 5m.
Other specs of the handset include a Snapdragon 617 chip, 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage. It packs a 13MP rear shooter and 5MP selfie shooter. It solely runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and packs a whopping 3800mAh battery capacity.
The handset is expected to make an appearance on MWC 2016 and will retail sometime this year. It’ll go for about $650 or roughly Php30K in converted PH price while the Flir add-on camera would still cost you a separate $250.
