Apple has announced the newest update coming to their products during the WWDC 2018. The iPhone company discussed the new features and it seems that the company focused on its performance and eliminating some bugs.

Performance

According to Federigh, the iPhone 6 Plus loads 40% faster, the camera opens 70% faster, even the keyboard comes up 50 percent faster. Older iPhones and iPads will have more enhanced performance and longer battery life.

Screen Time

Apple is going to help its users determine how much time they spend on specific apps In addition, it will track which apps are sending you the most notifications. This new Screen Time feature will provide a weekly summary of the user’s usage of each app.

Group Notifications

Notifications can be really irritating and annoying on iPhones and iPads – since the notifications pop-out individually even if most of them were from a single app. Finally, Apple adds a new feature to support group notification which will stack all related notifications into one bar.

Animoji with Tongue detection

Apple has added new characters to its Animoji feature – the koala, tiger, and tyrannosaurus rex character animations. Moreover, it will be able to detect the tongue when the user is sticking it out, which is similar to Snapchat, IG stories, Facebook’s My Day animal stickers.

Measure App

The company has added a new app to try out iOS 12’s powerful AR. Measure allows users to measure everything around them – from objects to walls to any thing.

Group FaceTime

The iOS 12 introduces Group FaceTime wherein up to 35 people can join the FaceTime sessions and it will also be supported by macOS. The windows will shrink when multiple users join the conversation. Furthermore, users can use Animoji and Memoji to spice things up.

Improved AR Experiences

Apple announced USDZ which is a new file format designed for augmented reality. Some companies including Adobe, Autodesk, and Sketchfab have already announced that they’ll be using the new USDZ file.

Memoji

Another avatar feature has been added to Apple devices. The update will let users create personalized avatars of themselves – which is a bit similar but a more advanced characterization compared to Samsung’s AR Emoji. Users can choose their own appearance, skin color, hairstyle, and even outfit and accessories for their avatar.
