AnTuTu: Top 10 Performance Smartphones May 2018

AnTuTu is one of the reliable benchmarking tools to test out the performance of a smartphone. Today, the company released its top 10 smartphone from May 1 to May 31st. For the past months, Huawei’s Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro has been sitting on the top throne of AnTuTu’s list.

Since the arrival of smartphones with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845, AnTuTu’s top list has been populated with smartphones that are powered by the mentioned chipset. Here are the smartphones that topped AnTuTu’s best performance smartphone this month of 2018.

OnePlus 6

The OnePlus 6 sports a 6.28-inch Full Optic Full HD+ display with 2180 x 1080p resolution. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. As mentioned, it comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor with Adreno 630.

This new OnePlus flagship smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with OxygenOS 5.1. It is fueled by a 3300mAh battery with Dash Charge. It has both Face Unlock and Fingerprint sensor. It is also water-resistant and comes with a USB Type-C port.

Going to the cameras, it features a dual camera setup of 20 MP f/1.7 with Sony IMX519 zoom + 16 MP f/1.7 Sony IMX 376K sensors. It has an LED Flash, PDAF, OIS, EIC, 2x Optical Zoom, 4k video recording, and slo-mo features. For taking selfies, it sports an AI-powered 16 MP front snapper.

The Smartisan R1 houses a 6.17-inch pressure sensitive display with 2242 x 1080 resolution and is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. This smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC clocked at 2.8GHz paired with an Adreno 630 GPU.

It comes in four variants – 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage, and 8GB RAM + 1TB internal storage.

Going to the camera department, it sports a dual rear camera setup of 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with a f/1.8 aperture + 20MP Sony IMX350 with a f/1.75 aperture sensors. For taking selfies, it has a 24MP front snapper.

Xiaomi Black Shark Gaming Smartphone

Xiaomi’s Black Shark features a 5.99″ IPS LCD with 1080 x 2160 resolution. This gaming smartphone from Xiaomi is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 paired with Adreno 630 that comes in two storage variants – 128 GB ROM + 8 GB RAM or 64 GB ROM + 6 GB RAM.

In the camera department, it has a 12 MP (f/1.8, 1.25µm) + 20 MP with 2x optical zoom, dual pixel phase detection autofocus,  and dual-LED dual-tone flash. For taking selfies, it comes with a 20MP front sensor.

The Black Shark Gaming Smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and is fueled by a 4000 mAh battery pack.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+

The Samsung Galaxy S9 features a 5.8-inch, while the Plus variant comes with 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display that supports QHD+ resolution 2960 x 1440 pixels. Both smartphones are powered by Qualcomm’s latest chipset, which is the Snapdragon 845. Also, both are packed with 64 GB of storage and support for microSD card.

The S9 comes with 4 GB of RAM and 3,000mAh battery, on the other hand, the Plus model features 6 GB of RAM and 3,500mAh battery. Both features Quick Charge 2.0 and wireless charging.

In the camera department, the S9’s rear camera and the primary sensor in the dual camera setup of S9+ feature 12-megpixel lens with variable aperture of f/1.5 to f/2.4. The lens is also equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and dual pixel autofocus.

The second camera of the dual camera system of S9+ is a 12-megapixel telephoto lens that comes with f/2.4 aperture, OIS, and dual-pixel autofocus. For taking selfies, both come with 8-megapixel camera with f/.17 aperture and autofocus.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S

The Mi MIX 2S features a 5.99″ LCD display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Its dimension measures 150.9 x 74.9 x 8.1 mm and weighs 191 g.

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 along with 8x Kyro 385 cores clocked up to 2.8GHz. The phone that will arrive comes in two variants. It will contain 6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of internal storage. The Mi MIX 2S runs on Android Oreo and is powered by a 3,400 mAh battery supported by Qi standard wireless charging.

The Mi Mix 2S features 12MP + 12MP dual pixel AI dual camera with its main camera containing a Sony IMX363 imaging sensor. This sensor sports dual-pixel autofocus. The smartphone also has a 5MP selfie camera.

Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro

The Huawei Mate 10 houses a 5.9-inch IPS LCD display with  1440 x 2560 resolution, while the Pro model comes in a 6-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. Both Mate smartphones are powered by Huawei’s own HiSilicon Kirin 970 paired with Mali-G72 MP12 GPU.

Going to its camera department, the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro has a dual rear camera setup of 12 MP sensor with 2x lossless zoom, Leica optics, phase detection & laser autofocus, and dual-LED dual-tone flash.

Honor V10

The Honor V10 that was launched last year houses a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080. It receives power from Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 970 64-bit octa-core processor coupled with Mali-G72 MP12 GPU.

For the optics, it comes with a dual camera setup of 20 MP + 16 MP f/1.8 with phase detection & laser autofocus, and dual-LED (dual tone) flash. It also has a 13MP selfie snapper. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo (EMUI 8.0) and is fueled by 3,750 mAh battery pack.
