Apple A14 5nm SoC Benchmark Reveals iPad Pro-like Performance

iPhone 12 is expected to launch around September, and while we’re still a few months away from it, a Geekbench listing reveals how powerful the upcoming A14 Bionic will be for the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max (assuming that’s how Apple will name its devices).

Based on the benchmark, the alleged A14 SoC scored 1658 and 4612 for the single-core and multi-core performance, respectively. To compare, the A12X SoC with eight physical cores managed to score 1110 and 4568, respectively. While the multi-core performance gain isn’t really something to brag about, the single-core performance gain, well, is. Oh, did we mention that the A12X chipset is being used by iPad Pro? The same iPad that can easily render and handle 4K video editing and color grading? More bounteous from the listing is the 3.1GHz clock speed of each core. This is the first time Apple is venturing above 3.0GHz for its mobile chipsets. At this rate, it’s going to mop the floor with the competition, specifically, Android’s Snapdragon chipsets.

Knowing Apple, it’s not really surprising how powerful their hardware can be. The company never compared itself to others, instead, it has always bested its set benchmark every year. And in 2020, we expect no less.
