Airlines ban Apple MacBook Pro 2015 due to fire risk

15″ MacBook Pros sold between September 2015 and February 2017 came with faulty batteries. Apple admitted the issue and is currently recalling the affected devices. According to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FDA), it’s banning MacBook Pro models on flights already.

Apple said that it had “determined that, in a limited number of older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units, the battery may overheat and pose a fire safety risk.” Furthermore, the company has received “26 reports of the laptop’s battery overheating, including five reports of minor burns and one report of smoke inhalation, as well as 17 reports of minor damage to nearby personal property.” That said, Apple is offering free battery replacements for eligible devices.

  3. Once you’ve submitted your serial number, the page will guide you on how the replacement process will go.
