The announcement of the Huawei P40 series was jam-packed. Aside from launching three phones, the Chinese company also shared its other accessories, particularly the Sound X. First announced in November 2019, Huawei has shared the entire feature set of its first and upcoming smart wireless speaker which is co-engineered with Devialet. Like how Leica has a say to Huawei’s flagship cameras, Devialet deals with audio technology. The sound company was founded in 2007 and produces speakers and amplifiers, mainly in France.
With a focus on high-end acoustic audio experience and seamless mobile connection, Sound X is no different from previously launched smart speakers, such as Amazon Echo and Google Home Max. However, Huawei’s first smart audio device is one of the recipients of the 2020 German iF Design Award. This means the design is exquisite and top-end. The round-ish and compact look houses two subwoofers to provide 40Hz bass (or 60W bass) and maximum amplitude of 20mm in 360-degree high-fidelity sound output.
Sound X is Huawei Share compatible to ensure you get the best out of its smart features. By using a Huawei device, you can seamlessly play the music from your phone to the speaker with a single tap (kinda like how NFC works). The caveat right now is that it only works with EMUI 10.1 version which is available on the newly-announced P40 series. However, we expect older devices to support the newest version of EMUI. Other smart features include lossless transmission and auto-pause and auto-resume music when a call is incoming or ending.
The price and availability of Huawei Sound X haven’t been announced during the launch. So, we’re going to have to wait for a while.
