For the past few weeks, it was the Reno5 4G that plagued our news mill, thanks to several leaks that revealed its pricing and pre-order details ahead of the release yesterday. This time, we’re taking a look at the top model Reno5 5G. Despite the naming scheme, there’s actually more to it than the ability to support 5G connectivity. Priced at Php23,999, here’s what you’re getting out of its more expensive price tag.
OPPO Reno5 5G makes use of the Snapdragon 765G chipset, a more capable CPU & GPU combo than the Snapdragon 720G on the 4G variant. Though it’s still paired with the same 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, the chipset allows the phone to perform faster and support more intensive apps and games. The catch — there’s no expandable storage support.
The screen is, more or less, the same, featuring a 6.43″ OLED 90Hz. However, it’s a lot brighter than the cheaper model with its 600 nits typical and 750 nits peak brightness. To compare, the Reno5 4G peaks at 600 nits and holds 430 nits typical. Additionally, there’s Gorilla Glass 5 for 5G and Glass 3 for 4G.
When it comes to cameras, only the selfie camera gets a different treatment. Instead of the 44MP sensor, the 5G model is using a 32MP sensor. We have yet to confirm whether it supports slo-mo selfies, though.
Lastly, the Reno5 5G comes equipped with 65W fast charging; the fastest charger in the Philippines today. You can easily go from 0-100% in less than an hour.
You can pre-order either the Reno5 4G or Reno5 5G through the OPPO concept and online stores, including Shopee and Lazada. Pre-orders will last until February 19th, with shipping starting on the 20th. A free Kuyou Smart Watch worth PHP3,999 is waiting for those who will get one within the pre-order period.
