You read that right. Due to the pandemic state the world is in, Pornhub, “the world’s leading free porn site”, is helping out to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Through its official Twitter account, the company announced that it’s “donating its March proceeds from Modelhub” to support Italy. In case you didn’t know, Italy is one of the countries that has been widely affected by COVID-19, aka coronavirus disease. There are more than 17,000 cases with more than 1,200 deaths already. However, nearly 1,500 cases already recovered. While that’s a good sign, it’s still a struggle for the country to rally from an untreatable disease.
COVID-19 is easily transmittable through human contact. That’s why people are being advised to wash their hands thoroughly and use sanitizers whenever possible. But, the best thing to do to prevent the spread(as well as keep yourself safe) is through isolation or staying home. To prevent you from going outside, Pornhub is providing Italy a free premium subscription for the whole month of March. No credit card required.
As funny as that may seem, Italy is taking the pandemic seriously. It has already shut down all establishments except for pharmacies and grocery stores. Detention (and potentially penalty) is waiting for people who escape isolation for no good reason. Furthermore, infected people who knowingly break quarantine can be charged with murder if someone they came in contact with resulted in positive COVID-19.
