Aside from the Redmi K30 and K30 5G, the Chinese company also announced the thin and light RedmiBook 13 laptop. The price starts at CNY 4799(~P34,600) for the i5-10210U model with 8GB/512GB configuration while the i7-10510U model costs CNY 5499(~P39,600) with the same amount of RAM and storage. It will be available in China starting December 12th with no firm global release date.
Available in Moonlight Silver color only, the RedmiBook 13″ clearly takes inspiration from the Macbook Air. The touchpad is a tad smaller, however, the chicklet keyboard placement and thin bezels are nearly the same. Speaking of, the bezels are said to be 4.65mm allowing for 89% screen-to-body ratio. The 13.3″ screen uses 16:9 FHD resolution but the peak brightness reaches 250 nits only. This means it’s not the best outdoor laptop.
With the design made almost entirely of metal, it’s still lightweight at 1.23kg. Redmi claims that the exclusive custom wing fan increases air volume by about 25% while reducing fan noise by 2dB. For the battery, the company claims that it can go up to 11hours, however, the 40W fast charging technology lets you go up to 50% in just 35 minutes. Port-wise, we’re looking at a headphone/microphone jack, 2 x USB 3.1, and HDMI. Sadly, there’s no USB-C nor fingerprint scanner.
