The Land Transportation Office hopes that a Quezon City court will lift the temporary restraining order (TRO) that was put on the plastic driver’s license cards after the LTO was told to stop giving the winning bidder the contract.
Rep. Bernadette Herrera of the Bagong Henerasyon party-list asked the LTO and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) about the status of giving out driver’s licenses when the House committee on appropriations was talking about the planned budget for the Department of Transportation for 2024.

Since the 20-day timeframe ends on Wednesday, September 6, head of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Vigor Mendoza II is “very confident” that the temporary restraining order (TRO) on its driver’s license card supply deal would be removed this week. He also announced that license plates are still being sent out.
At the DOTr budget briefing on September 4, Mendoza mentioned that if the TRO isn’t lifted by September 6, LTO may have to extend motorists’ licenses.
