With the Philippines entering a revolutionary era of electric vehicles, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is encouraging Chinese companies that produce electric vehicles (EVs) and batteries to bring their businesses to the Philippines.
As part of its participation in the 2022 International Summit on Lithium Battery Technology and Applications for Light Electric Vehicles (BLEV 2022) held in Guangzhou, China, the DTI discussed the possibility of a collaboration between these two companies.

In addition, the proposal also refers to the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), which was recently ratified (May 2022) by the Philippine Senate, which Assistant Secretary Glenn Peñaranda explains will provide the Philippines with a boost in the development of electric vehicles.
The EVIDA is expected to serve as a blueprint for the e-vehicle sector at the national level as stakeholders prepare a Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry (CREVI).

E-vehicles and the Electric Vehicle Incentive Strategy (EVIS) will be further promoted through the roadmap. As well to EVIDA, other policies will help foster the growth of electric vehicles in the country, such as the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program and the Strategic Investment Priority Plan (SIPP).
