7th-Gen iPad 10.2″ Features iPad OS, Pencil Support, A10 Chipset for P17k

Adding to the long list of Apple iPad, the company is replacing its 9.7″ iPad for the 7th-gen iPad 10.2″. The price starts at $329USD (~P17k) for the 32GB model and goes up to $429USD (~P22k) for the 128GB. If you want cellular connectivity, you can have it for $459USD (~P24k). Available in Space Gray, Gold, and Silver colors, the design may be old but the software is new.

7th-Gen iPad 10.2″ Announced with iPad OS

The design of the new iPad 10.2″ features the old thick bezels and touch ID biometric. It has an 8MP f2.4 that supports up to FHD @ 30fps video, along with a 1.2MP 720p FaceTime camera. Although it still comes with lighting connector, support for 1st-gen Apple Pencil is now available. We’re also glad to report that headphone jack is still here. And thanks to iPad OS, there’s support for third-party storage like flash drives.

That said, iPad OS is what makes the new iPad a compelling buy at its price point. Running A10 Fusion chipset that was found first on Apple iPhone 7 Series, the tablet-form factor is capable of delivering laptop-like experience and work management. With the added support of Smart Keyboard, it’ll be easier to take advantage of the desktop-class features of iPad OS, such as multi-window support.

During the presentation, Apple compared its new iPad to the best-selling budget Windows 10 laptop. Right off the bat, the company threw shade at the boring display of the laptop vs the 2160 x 1620 IPS LCD with 500 nits brightness of iPad. With its iPad OS, the company believes that it’s enough to replace budget laptops that do the most trivial things like presentations, word docs, and media entertainment.
