After the official launch of Redmi Note 7 packing a massive 48MP camera, it seems like we’re being treated to another smartphone dubbed as the Redmi Go. As the company continues to price their products cheaper than the competition, we might see this upcoming entry-level phone as their cheapest device this year.
With that said, don’t expect eye-popping specs like the Redmi Note 7. Based on what seems to be legit postings, the Redmi Go would be a 5-inch device running on Snapdragon 425 with 1GB/8GB expandable storage. It has an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie shooter. In other words, it’s a device made for kids.
But what’s really interesting about it is that it runs on Google’s Android Go program. To refresh your memory, it’s a trickled down version of Android to run optimally on entry-level devices. It’s also important to note that pre-installed Google Apps are the “Go” version.
Since Xiaomi is known with their very competitive pricing, we’re expecting the Redmi Go to launch between P3k-P5k at most. While the phone isn’t as fascinating as the Redmi Note 7, it’s interesting to see a cheap device expected to run optimally in case you’re looking to reduce your phone usage.
While there’s no official word yet on pricing, expect the Redmi Go to be released locally in a matter of days.
