Design and Display
The most imminent difference between the two is its Edge to Edge display. The Mi Mix offers a 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio display. Compared to the 6.4 inch display of the Mi Mix, the Mi Mix 2 only sports a 5.99 inch. However, the Mi Mix 2 no doubt features thinner and a much near bezel-less design.
Under the hood
In terms of performance, the Mi Mix 2 gets the upper hand since it is powered by a Snapdragon 835 paired with an Adreno 540. Meanwhile, the Mi Mix has a SD 821 and Adreno 530. Aside from that, the Mi Mix is just on its way to Android Nougat as the Mi Mix 2 has Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 out of the box as well as the Nougat OS. We have a hands-on of the Mi Mix that you could view here.
Not only that but the Mi Mix 2 comes with a built 6GB RAM base model with 64GB, 128GB, 256GB ROM options as the Mi Mix has a 4GB/128GB ROM. The upgraded variant of the Mi Mix 2 is an 8GB/128GB ROM model while the Mi Mix has a 6GB/256 GB ROM model.
Camera
The camera specs of the Mi Mix offers quality results. But the Mi Mix 2 delivers a 12MP rear camera with a IMX386 sensor (same as the Mi 6), 4-axis OIS, f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens. Compared to that, the Mi Mix’ 16MP only has a f/2.0 aperture and EIS.
Both offers a 5MP front snapper but the Mi Mix’s has a f/2.0 aperture which the Mix 2 hasn’t. But, you could actually check the actual photo samples of the Mix 2 here.
Verdict:
The Mi Mix offers more battery and bigger screen than the Mi Mix 2. On the other hand, the Mi Mix 2 possesses more RAM, storage capacity, camera features and performance than the Mi Mix. The Mi Mix 2 also weighs lighter with 185 grams since the Mi Mix weighs 209 grams.
Nonetheless, it’s still up to the consumers since both doesn’t have that much difference in price on their 6GB RAM models.
