
While Xiaomi has bid goodbye to its Mi Max and Mi Note lineup, the China-based company is introducing a new series that gives new meaning to cheap smartphones — meet the Mi CC9.
The Mi CC9 series has two phones under its name. Starting with the Mi CC9, it’s a cheap premium phone made of metal rails and glass backing. It has a unique irridescent shine on the back that shimmers in black, blue, or white colors. While the impressive 6.39″ FHD+ Super AMOLED display is partnered with a teardrop notch, which houses a massive 32MP f2.0 selfie camera. The company is boasting the very first dedicated AI portrait mode for low-light scenes via the front cam. As for the main cameras, it’s commanded by a 48MP f1.8 wide sensor with an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensors.
You will also be surprised to see an under-screen fingerprint scanner here, making it the cheapest device to sport the futuristic biometric. In terms of performance, it features a Snapdragon 710 chipset paired with 6GB RAM and up to 128GB expandable storage. Running Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 on top, it supports 4030mAh battery with 18W fast charging. It’s also full of connectivity such as a headphone jack, IR port, and NFC.

The slightly cheaper variant is the Mi CC9e — “e” for Essential Edition. It comes with a smaller HD+ 6.088″ Super AMOLED display and with a less powerful Snapdragon 665. Other than those two, you can expect literally every single feature that we’ve mentioned from the more expensive model.

The Mi CC9 Meitu Edition is the standard CC9 with camera tweaks from Meitu, a former smartphone brand acquired by Xiaomi last year. The tweaks come in the form of AI low-light portrait mode, full body beauty filters, movie portrait mode, and video stabilization on the front camera. Coming in Pearl White color, the configuration involves 8GB RAM and 256GB storage for CNY 2,599 or ~P19,000 when directly converted to Philippines peso.
There’s no word yet if it will ever be released in the Philippines, but the Mi CC9 series will start selling in China by July 5.
