With a wider display, larger battery capacity, and extra dual cameras setup, the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus is a beefier flagship Android Marshmallow smartphone launched today in China. The new Mi 5s series is scheduled to be released this October with $299 and $350 base pricing for the standard and plus models, respectively.
The Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus share some features and specs with the standard Mi 5s model including the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, UFS 2.0 type onboard storage, and the all-metal design with the inclusion of Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
What separates the two is the 13MP dual camera, dual lens setup on the Mi 5s Plus. The technology implemented here is similar to the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus with a dedicated monochrome or black and white sensor for faster focusing and better dynamic range.
There’s also a 4K video recording, PDAF or phase detection autofocus, and 4MP selfie camera while OIS is surprisingly missing (as far as the official MI website posting).
Completing the specs sheet are the 6GB RAM top-end variant with 128GB expandable memory, 3800mAh battery with Quick Charging 3.0, and an array of connectivities including a dual MIMO WiFi ac connection.
