Xiaomi Introduces Its Pilot Technology

Xiaomi has made the advancement of its Xiaomi Pilot Technology official. The firm claims it would invest RMB 3.3 billion in the initial stage of its autonomous driving technology, according to the first R&D and staffing update since the company announced its entry into the smart electric car industry in March 2022.

Xiaomi also unveiled a live road test video of its autonomous driving technology during a press conference, showcasing its sophisticated algorithms and capacity to handle a wide range of circumstances.

According to Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of the Xiaomi Group, “Xiaomi’s autonomous driving technology follows a self-developed whole stack strategy, and the project has achieved progress above expectations.”

Xiaomi’s test car demonstrated accurate, safe, and intelligent aided driving in many scenarios, including U-turns, roundabouts, and continuous downhill driving, in a demonstration video.

The autonomous driving team at Xiaomi focused on parking and unveiled a creative auto-parking solution that addresses situations like “reserved parking spots,” “automated valet parking,” and “automatic robotic arm charging.” Other parking lot services will be made available in the future, and a combination of AI and service-oriented elements will be included in order to comply with pertinent national laws and regulations.

In the initial stages of the development of its autonomous driving technology, Xiaomi intends to build a fleet of 140 test cars. They will each undergo separate testing with the goal of dominating the smart EV market by 2024.
