X Corp. has shared some details for its upcoming messaging app, XChat, ahead of its official release.
Originally, X only had basic Direct Messages, but according to a post on X, XChat will be released as a separate messaging application.
The private messaging platform is expected to feature end-to-end encryption without ads or tracking.
Also, the app will include features such as disappearing messages with customizable timers, cross-device video calling, the ability to edit or delete messages, and improved voice messaging controls.

The app is currently listed on the App Store, where it shows a file size of 175.8MB and requires iOS 26.0 or later for compatibility. There is no word yet on Android availability, so users on that platform may need to wait for further updates.
Privacy practices may still change depending on features or user settings once the app officially launches.
Accessibility features have not yet been specified. Pre-orders are already open, and the app is expected to launch on April 17, 2026.
