Xiaomi is testing Windows gaming, WinPlay Engine, on its Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 tablet through the latest HyperOS 2 update in China.
According to a post on Weibo, the new WinPlay engine, allows tablets to run Windows games with just a 2.9% GPU performance loss.
Unlike cloud gaming, the platform lets users play even without an internet connection.
It also enables the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 to run Windows software, including Steam. However, not all Steam games are compatible due to hardware limitations.
Moreover, support for Xbox controllers has also been confirmed.
As of now, there are no updates regarding the availability of this feature on other Xiaomi devices. It remains exclusive to the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro.
Xiaomi is currently recruiting testers from China to try out this feature. A global rollout is still not confirmed so stay tuned for further updates.
