Volkswagen and vivo Team Up for Smart Car Connectivity

Volkswagen Group’s software subsidiary, CARIAD, has joined forces with the Chinese smartphone manufacturer vivo to create cutting-edge smart car connectivity solutions.

They’ve established a collaborative lab called the Mobile x Mobility Fusion Joint Innovative Lab (M Lab) in China, with a focus on research and development in areas like seamless smartphone and smart car interaction, integrating user data within the vehicle, and enhancing the connection of intelligent applications.

The main aim of this partnership is to provide consumers with a seamless and user-friendly digital mobility experience. The joint lab will work on developing new software and hardware solutions to enable more effective communication between smartphones and smart cars.

This will empower users to remotely control their vehicles, access vehicle data and services via their smartphones, and enjoy a more personalized and convenient driving experience.

Additionally, this collaboration will help CARIAD strengthen its independent R&D capabilities in smart connectivity and better integrate its innovations into the local Chinese digital ecosystem.

vivo’s in-car system has already reached 160 million smartphone users in China, expanding CARIAD’s access to a large and growing user base.
