We are back with another gaming review, and this time we will test the gaming prowess of the vivo Y29.
This device is designed for entry-level gaming because of its affordability. But if we add some graphically demanding games, how well can the vivo Y29 handle them? Let’s find out!
First up is Mobile Legends. Its default settings are set to a high frame rate paired with high graphics quality.
We bumped its settings to super high frame rate and ultra graphics quality to test out its gaming performance.
Once we found a match, we experienced smooth performance with no stutters or frame drops. However, even though we set its frame rate to super high, we only achieved a stable 60 FPS in and out of clashes. Still, we got a seamless gaming experience.
So for Mobile Legends with a super high frame rate and ultra graphics quality, we got a consistent 60FPS inside and outside of combat.
Next up is League of Legends: Wild Rift. Its default settings are set to quality, but we went to custom and set it to the max available options.
As for the gameplay, we experienced tons of frame drops and stutter on the home screen due to the amount of visual clutter and pop-ups.
Inside the Howling Abyss, we didn’t experience any stutters or frame drops, even during clashes. However, after the loading screen, we noticed that the vivo Y29 became a bit warmer compared to Mobile Legends.
So for League of Legends: Wild Rift, with the max available settings, we got 60 to 94FPS out of combat and 54 to 65FPS in combat.
Third on our list of competitive games is Call of Duty: Mobile. Its default settings are set to high graphics quality and high frame rate.
We changed the settings to low graphics quality paired with a high frame rate to see how well it runs.
Once we found a match, we never had any problems during our entire playthrough. It was smooth, with no frame drops or stutters. Even during gunfights, we never encountered any issues. You can easily land your flick shots on vivo Y29 thanks to its smooth performance.
So for Call of Duty: Mobile, with low graphics and high frame rate, we got a consistent 60FPS.
Now let’s move on to graphically demanding games, starting with Genshin Impact. We set the settings to low plus 60FPS and tested how well it ran.
During exploration, we got smooth performance with tiny bits of frame drops, but the FPS remained relatively stable. There were no noticeable stutters, which is great.
As for the Abyss, we had a smooth gaming experience with no noticeable stutters or frame drops, even while switching characters and activating ultimate skills.
For Genshin Impact with low plus 60FPS, we got 28 to 38FPS in the overworld and 28 to 34FPS in combat.
Next is Zenless Zone Zero. Compared to Genshin, this game is a bit heavier due to the number of animations.
We played it with the same settings and checked how well it ran. In the overworld, we experienced lots of frame drops and stutters, but it was still manageable, especially if you’re only doing dailies.
As for combat, it’s not advisable to do Hollow Zero or Shiyu Defense on the vivo Y29 since it outputs too many frame drops. If your daily activities in this game require combat, then I wouldn’t recommend using the vivo Y29.
So for Zenless Zone Zero with low plus 60FPS, we got 15 to 25FPS out of combat and 6 to 14FPS in combat.
Lastly, we have Wuthering Waves. Using the same low plus 60FPS settings, our experience wasn’t as enjoyable as with Genshin Impact.
There were tons of stutters and frame drops in combat, which was quite a bummer. Just like ZZZ, this game relies on dodges and parries, so it’s not advisable to play it on this device.
For Wuthering Waves, with low plus 60FPS, we got 15 to 20FPS in exploration and about 12 to 17FPS in combat.
Overall, the vivo Y29 manages to deliver an enjoyable gaming experience when it comes to competitive titles. So if you’re into Mobile Legends, Wild Rift, or even Call of Duty: Mobile, the vivo Y29 will be able to handle those games.
However, for users like me who love playing ARPGs, this is not the best device for that activity since it outputs tons of frame drops and stutters.
All in all, for the price of PHP10,999, the vivo Y29 is a decent device for entry-level gaming.
