Vivo X21 vs Vivo V9: Specs Comparison

The Vivo X21 launched here in the Philippines yesterday. It is one of Vivo’s flagship phones which boasts of its in-display fingerprint scanner. As for the Vivo V9, it was released here in the country this March.

The two smartphones have a huge difference between their price tags although people have been wondering which device is more worth it.  Let’s find out here in this specs comparison.

The Vivo V9 features a larger screen with 6.3″ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 and an aspect ratio of 19:9. Meanwhile, the Vivo X21 sports a 6.28″ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 and an aspect ratio of 19:9. Both smartphones are protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Looking at the specs, the Vivo V9 seems to have a larger screen. However, the Vivo X21 sports a Super AMOLED display which might be better than V9’s IPS LCD display. Another similarity between these two is the infamous notch.

Under the hood, the Vivo X21 is more advanced due to its Snapdragon 660 chip with a GPU of Adreno 512. On the other hand, the Vivo V9 is powered by the Snapdragon 626 and an Adreno 506 GPU. In terms of their storage capacity, the Vivo X21 contains 6GB of RAM + 128 GB internal storage. On the other hand, the Vivo V9 only has 4GB of RAM + 64GB of internal storage. The two Vivo smartphones are expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

In terms of their camera setup, the two smartphones feature dual rear lenses. The Vivo V9 sports a dual 16MP + 5MP rear camera whereas the Vivo X21 only sports a 12MP + 5MP dual main camera. As for their front camera, the Vivo V9 has the higher one with a 24MP lens whereas the Vivo X21 has a 12MP selfie snapper. Looking at the specs, the Vivo V9 clearly has the upper hand. To fully determine which of the two has a better camera, we would have to do a camera comparison between the two.

As for the battery, the Vivo V9 has the bigger battery with 3260mAh whereas the Vivo X21 has a 3200mAh battery. Although the V9 has the larger one, the Vivo X21 is supported by Fast Charging.

An additional feature that the Vivo X21 has that the Vivo V9 doesn’t is an in-display fingerprint scanner. In the V9’s case, its fingerprint scanner is located at the back.

According to the specs, the Vivo X21 isn’t really that superior to the Vivo V9. With a difference of more than PHP 10,000 between their price tags, is the Vivo X21 really worth its price?
