Vivo S7T Announced: Dimensity 820, AMOLED, 5G, OriginOS for ~P19,200

MediaTek is slowly populating the smartphone space with its 5G-capable chipsets. This time, Vivo S7t gets the Dimensity 820 treatment in China that goes for CNY2,598 or around ~Php19,200 when directly converted to Philippine peso. While a local launch is highly unlikely, we still think the S7T is enough to generate interest among consumers. 

For starters, Vivo S7T runs on the latest OriginOS based on Android 11. It’s the company’s latest take on re-skinning its user interface, showing a resemblance to Apple’s iOS 14, albeit in the best Android way possible. Personally speaking, I think other OEMs should follow Vivo’s steps in making Android phones that distinguish themselves from the rest. So enough it, what about the rest of the features?

Well, the S7T’s Dimensity 820 5G chipset gets paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB non-expandable UFS 2.1 storage. There may be no option to expand storage, but at the very least, the phone is very light and thin. Three cameras are found on the back, featuring a 64MP main sensor and 8MP ultrawide. Though the front display is housing a relatively large notch, Vivo makes good use of the space by installing a 44MP selfie camera and an 8MP ultrawide. On top of that, both front and back main cameras are capable of video recording up to 4K resolution. 

At 6.44″ diagonal, the S7T has a relatively smaller screen than the standard 6.5″ today, but it’s already AMOLED for the best color quality. The screen, however, is powered by a 4000mAH battery. It may be small, but the lack of a fast refresh rate means more juice for the day. Additionally, there’s 33W fast charging that goes up to 66% in 30 minutes when you need to top up.
