Toyota drive itself to the top of the electrified vehicle market in the Philippines, as stated in a new report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI).
Based on the latest official statistics from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI), as of the end of June 2022, there were quickly 1,013 total xEVs sold in the market, and they surpassed 843 in the year 2021 and 378 in 2020.
With the total count of 1,013 xEVs, 962 of them were from Lexus and Toyota.
The xEV category consists of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and hydrogen-powered Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV).
Here in Our Country, Toyota and Lexus offer a wide range of HEVs. For Toyota, they have Corolla Altis, Corolla Cross, Prius, Camry, and RAV 4. At the same time, Lexus has IS, ES, LS, NX and RX.
The President of TMP Atsuhiro Okamoto happily embraced this growth as a good news that the Philippines will soon make a significant contribution to one of the main goals of global vehicle electrification, which is carbon neutrality or net-zero carbon dioxide emissions in transportation.
“The positive impact of xEVs can only be observed once we achieve widescale adoption of these vehicles,” said the President of TMP Atsuhiro Okamoto.
He also added, “The exponential growth and the rate of new xEV model introductions in the country are providing Filipino customers more options and easier access to greener technologies. We are optimistic that we can experience the environmental benefits of electrified vehicles with Toyota taking the lead while always ensuring ‘Mobility for All’ where “no one is left behind.”
